Yacht Racing & Regatta Photographer
From the Med to the Baltic — twenty years documenting the world's most beautiful sport
“Sailing Photography always felt like Jazz Music to me. It's all about improvising, adapting and listening ahead of yourself”.

Yacht racing photography isn't a category of photography you arrive at by accident. It demands a lifetime of weather-reading, sea-legs, equipment endurance, and a relationship with the boats and the sailors that no portfolio can shortcut. I've spent twenty years inside that relationship.
Since my first major regatta — Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez in 2004, on the deck of the Moonbeam IV under skipper Bernard Tarrès — I've covered:
Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (Porto Cervo) — multiple seasons
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez — almost every edition since 2004
Kieler Woche (Kiel) — the world's largest sailing event
GC32 Racing Tour — Kiel and beyond
Travemünder Woche
Extreme Sailing Series Hamburg
Kitesurf World Cup Sankt Peter-Ording
Class-association events, club regattas, and corporate match-racing
What I deliver
For organisers, sponsors and class associations: same-day press selects (under 12 hours), sponsor-pool images with usage rights, multi-day on-water coverage, drone footage, and a consistent visual language that holds across the regatta's print, web and PR output.
For sailors, owners and crews: hero images for sponsor decks, post-race press images, the kind of in-action shots crews actually want to print and frame, and the unguarded moments at dock-out and prize-giving.
For editorial: photo essays for international yachting press. My work has appeared in DPPI Sports Agency, YACHT & Yacht Classic Magazines, Sailing Journal, Arte Navale and the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Forum, among others.
How it works
Most regatta engagements are 3-7 days of on-water coverage, scoped against the event calendar. Half-day, single-day, and multi-event series rates available. Image licensing structured around your channel needs — editorial-only, sponsor-pool, or commercial usage.
If you're organising a regatta and need a photographer-of-record for the season, I'd rather have that conversation than a one-day quote. Series contracts are usually 20-30% more cost-effective than per-day engagements with consistency benefits sponsors notice.

September 2004, medium format Mamiya RB67 and 35mm Nikon Nikonos on the deck of the Moonbeam IV (Skipper was by Bernard Tarrès at that time), attending my first major regattas in the Mediterranean Sea at "Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez". It's been some years now, a couple of sunk cameras, a few bumps and bruises on the ribs, salty water in the eyes , thousands of images and I'm still burning for it.
